Years ago, text messaging and mobile websites were made for teens and millennials.
With 75% of seniors age 70 and older walking around with a smartphone, mobile is no longer exclusively for younger generations.
When the National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) wanted to ramp up their Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), they turned to a mobile web application and text messaging service from Train by Cell.
In the mobile website welcome video, Sue Chapman, NICOA’s SCSEP Director, states,
"During this COVID-19 pandemic, we have learned that we need
to find new and effective ways to reach out to you during
this time and moving forward.”
SCSEP is an employment program designed to help the 55+ community update their jobs skills, build work experience, and create economic security. NICOA’s SCSEP mobile website includes job postings, training videos, handbooks, interview tips, quizzes, and guidance for creating a resume. Similar in look and feel to a native app, NICOA’s mobile website has much more flexibility as it requires no IT department, no downloads, and is fully customizable.
In addition to a mobile website, NICOA plans to communicate with SCSEP participants on mobile. Director Sue Chapman states in NICOA’s welcome video,
“With Train by Cell, we will be able to reach out to you simply
by sending you a text message.”
With our text messaging tool, NICOA can push event notifications, links, and images. SCSEP participants can opt-in to a number of lists and opt-out at any time. Best of all, text messages can be scheduled so that administrative users can set it and forget it.
For years, Train by Cell has supported workforce development clients like the Middlesex County Office of Workforce Development, Workforce Solutions Borderplex, Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth and many others by providing the technology that reaches job seekers best: mobile.
